The Awareness Programme for the mediators of Kozhikode was conducted from 23.03.2017 to 25.03.2017 at Hotel Paramount Towers, Kozhikode. The Refresher Programme started at 9.30 am on 23.3.2017. Sri.P.K.Aravinda Babu, Director,Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre, welcomed the participants and made an introductory speech. Smt.M.R.Anitha, District Judge and District Co-ordinator, inaugurated the training programme by lighting the traditional lamp and delivered a short speech. 29 mediator from Kozhikode District were invited to attend the three days refresher programme. Six Mediator trainers, Sri.Bhuvanendran Nair, Sri.Sreelal Warrier, Sri.George Merlo Pallath, Sri.G.Jayasankar and Smt.Noorbeena Rasheed and Smt.Beena.M., conducted the classes to the mediators. On the concluding day, that is, 25.03.2017, Hon’ble Mr.Justice K.Surendra Mohan, President, Board of Governors, KSMCC and Hon’ble Mr.Justice A.M.Shaffique Member, Board of Governor, Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre were present. An interactive meeting of Referral Judges of Kozhikode District Centre, Mediator Trainers and Mediators was held at 3.30 pm. Their Lordships expressed the hope that the knowledge and experience which the participants gained from this programme would enable them to play an even more meaningful role as mediator and trainers. They have also mentioned about the need to increase the number of reference of suitable cases to mediation. Referral Judges, Mediator Trainers and Mediators also spoke in the meeting and expressed their views. All of them assured that the mediation activities in the years to come will be more successful and effective. The Hon’ble Judges also met and interacted with the Advocates at Bar Association Hall, Kozhikode at 1.00 pm. Hon’ble Judges also spoke on the occasion. They highlighted the importance of settlement of cases through mediation and requested the Advocates to give continued support in mediation activities.Hotel Paramount Towers, Kozhikode25/03/2017
